Belmont Senior Services, Inc. is a
501 (C) 3 non-profit organization that began in 1972 to provide support
services to persons 60 years of age and older who reside in Belmont County.
These services include Transportation, Personal Care, Homemaking, Home
Delivered Meals (meals on wheels), Congregate Meals, and for socialization,
Belmont Senior Services operates 10 Senior Centers scattered across the
county. It is through provision of these services that the organization
strives to prevent, or at least postpone, for as long as possible, nursing
home placement of Belmont County’s frail elderly. While Belmont County is a
very rural county located in the Appalachian region, it has the distinction
of having the second highest percentage of elderly population in the State
of Ohio, with 18.2 % of its residents over 65 years of age. The National
average is only 12.1%.
Belmont Senior Services approximate 80 men and women, all of
which are dedicated to meeting the needs of our clients. Funding sources
include: local senior service levies, The Older Americans Act, PASSPORT,
Medicaid Waiver, and the Veterans Administration.
